APC urges FG to ensure safety before 2015 elections

18 December 2013, 08:45

Abuja - All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on the Federal Government to ensure the safety of lives and property in every part of the country before 2015 general elections.

The party made the call at the end of the party's Interim National Electoral Committee meeting in Abuja on Tuesday.

“Federal Government should live up to its responsibilities by ensuring that every part of Nigeria is safe enough for 2015 general elections,” the party said.

On insurgency in the North-Eastern part of the country, APC advocated “carrot and stick” method to resolve the problem.

On the continued closure of Rivers House of Assembly, the party appealed to men and women of goodwill to speak up on the issue for the benefit of citizens of the state.

It called on the National Assembly to investigate the disbursement of ecological fund to ensure social justice.

Many leaders of the party, including Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, Sen. Bola Tinubu, Chief Ogbonaya Onuh, Sen. Alli Modu Sherrif and Alhaji Abubakar Baraje, attended the meeting.

Governors Rotimi Amechi of Rivers, Raji Fashola of Lagos and Alhaji Rabiu Kwakwanso of Kano also made the list.
