Osogbo - Nasir El-Rufai, former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has urged All Progressives Congress members to update their voter registration to enable them elect candidates of their choice.
El-Rufai made the call on Tuesday in Osogbo at a mega APC rally attended by chieftains of the party, including Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo and former Governor Olusegun Osoba of Ogun.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event, hosted by Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun at the Osogbo City stadium, attracted a large number of party supporters.
According to him, the people must make frantic efforts to ensure that Aregbesola is re-elected in 2014 by coming out in large numbers to return him as governor.
"For that to happen, we must get those who have not registered in the past four years and those who have attained the age of 18 to come out to register with the Independent National Electoral Commission.
"We are coming to Osun and we will not let anybody rig the election. Those who try that will see what will happen to them,'' he said.
Also speaking, former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, said that the South-West would be contended with the position of vice-president.
Fani-Kayode, who gave Aregbesola a pass mark for his outstanding performance, advised residents of the state to re-elect him in 2014.
The politician said there would be no room for rigging during Osun and Ekiti governorship elections in 2014.
Aregbesola, who commended the people for their support, said that it would be difficult for any opposition party to defeat him in the election in view of his achievements.
