APC wants Sylva to step down for Alaibe in Bayelsa guber poll

15 September 2015, 15:05

Yenagoa - The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) might be working to ensure the emergence of a former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Timi Alaibe, as the party’s consensus candidate for the December 5 Bayelsa governorship election, reports Vanguard.

The party has begun to mount pressure on other aspirants for the party's governorship ticket to step down for Alaibe.

The party leaders were disposed to the former NDDC boss because they believed he has a solid  structure on ground in Bayelsa State.

The leaders favour Alaibe over the former governor of the state, Timipre Slyva, who still has a case with the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC)

The leaders are more comfortable with the candidature of Alaibe who they said has an edge over the serving governor,  Serieke Dickson with his grassroots presence.
