APC ward congresses suffers setback in Benin

09 April 2014, 13:45

Benin -  Lack of voting materials marred the conduct of All Progressives Congress (APC) ward congresses billed to hold on Tuesday in the 192 wards across Benin.

Centers visted showed that there were no party officials and voting materials in all the wards visited.

At Eyanojie Primary School, in Wards 8, 9, 5, and 10, in the Oredo  local government area, party members were on ground waiting for the arrival of officials of the party and materials to cast their votes.

After waiting for hours in vain, they were accredited and the party members counted themselves.

Reacting to the development, Osaro Obazee, the Chairman, Oredo Local Government Council, said that such a situation could compel members to leave the party.

"We have been waiting for officials of the party and materials to conduct the election, on our own, we have accredited and counted ourselves and a winner has emerged," he said.
