Owerri - The Imo State secretariat of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) turned into a battlefield on Thursday,as two factions of the party engaged themselves in fight with deadly objects.
The factions - the Victor Umeh-led faction and the Maxi Okwu group, are fighting for the control of the party in the state, reports The Nation.
Trouble started when some aggrieved members of the party booed the interim chairman of the party in the state, Peter Ezeobi for unilaterally sacking 14 council chairmen of the party without recourse to the State Working Committee (SWC).
The aggrieved members who barricaded the entrance of the party’s secretariat, chanted scornful songs and carried placards, some of which read ‘Go Ezeobi Go, you are a fake APGA’, “Captain Iheanacho how much did you pay Umeh”, we reject you”
