APGA inaugurates committee to resolve crisis

21 May 2013, 09:06

Abuja- The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has inaugurated a 20-man committee to look into  the crisis that has bedevilled the party in recent times.

The National Chairman of the party, Victor Umeh, made the announcement at a news conference after inaugurating the committee, called "Rebuilding and Crisis Review Committee" in Abuja on Monday.

According to him, the members of the committee are Chief Ziggy Azike who is the Chairman of the committee and Chief Felix Ogbuagu who is the secretary.

Umeh said that the committee was ready to work assiduously to bring  back the party's lost glory, adding that  it was expected to  bring into the fold, aggrieved members who left the party for one reason or the other.

He expressed optimism that the party would bounce back strongly at the end of the committee’s assignment.

The chairman expressed appreciation to all members of the party who remained steadfast and committed to the cause of the party throughout the crisis.

`` We in APGA are known to be law-abiding citizens of this country; we should keep it up by also abiding by the constitution of our great party.”

Umeh also expressed optimism that with dedication, commitment and hard work, the party would achieve greater things in future.

He advised those sponsoring the crisis in the party to desist from such act, as it was capable of denting the  image of the party.

The chairman also urged party members to respect the party and its leaders for the good of all.

He said that the committee was also mandated to search for and recommend credible Nigerians for appointment into the party’s board of trustees.

He commended  the party's national working committee and the state chairmen who remained steadfast and loyal to the leadership of the party.

`` I am still ever hopeful that we can redeem our party and commit it to the original ideals of the founding fathers.

`` Let us, therefore, join hands to rebuild our party in truth and justice, let the basis for accepting any leadership of the party not be driven by selfish interests,’’ Ume said

Responding, Azike said that the committee would not leave any stone unturned in its attempt to achieve the party's aims and objectives.

`` We are going to reach out to other members of the party who for one reason or the other left the party, to come back in the  over all interest of the party.

`` We believe that our aggrieved members who left the party, are still our members, they only left the party temporarily, they will all come back.”

According to him, APGA is back and back for real, to contest elections and win more seats in 2015.
