Adamawa SIEC urged to conduct credible elections

22 November 2012, 12:09

Adamawa - The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in Adamawa on Thursday appealed to the state Independent Electoral Commission to ensure a credible and transparent local government election on Saturday in the state.

The Publicity Secretary of ACN, Mr Yohanna Mathias, made the appeal in Yola in an interview with the  News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on the party's preparation for the election.

Mathias said as an umpire the commission must be neutral and work within the law.

Mathias said ACN was now ready to contest the election and had fielded candidates for chairmanship and councillorship positions in all the 21 local government areas.

He said as the leading opposition party, ACN was confident of outstanding victory, adding that the crisis rocking one of the parties in the state over lists of it's candidates was a sign of impending defeat.

Mathias urged the electorate to come out en masse and vote ACN for change.

" I want to call on the electorate to come out and vote for ACN and to ensure that their votes count for the much awaited positive change, "  Mathias said.

NAN reports that 14 political parties will participate in the poll.

The parties are  APGA, ACN, CPC, PDP, NDP, NTP, NCP, PRP, ANPP, DPP, RPN, KOWA, Fresh Party and Accord Party.
