Alaibe withdraws from Bayelsa governorship race

Yenagoa - Former Managing Director of the Niger-Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Timi Alaibe has withdrawn from the governorship primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State, reports Sahara Reporters.

Alaibe cited the controversies that have continued to trail the conduct of the governorship primary election in the state has the reasons for withdrawing from the race.

Alaible in a press statement on Tuesday stated that he decided to drop his ambition in the interest of the party and the state.

While acknowledging the support and backing of the Bayelsa people to govern them, he said pushing his governorship ambition beyond this point carries alongside some collateral consequences. 

He noted that the APC must avoid  a situation of crisis that the PDP might inadvertently reap from, saying the APC deserves every sacrifice, including personal interests, to arrive at the envisaged destination come February, 2016.
