Port - Harcourt - Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State has revealed that the non-implementation of the United Nations Environmental Protection Agency (UNEP) report on Ogoniland was the reason why he fell apart with President Goodluck Jonathan, reports Naij.
Amaechi said the federal government has refused to release the sum of $I million approved for the clean-up and development of the area, after verification and recommendation by the agency to the government.
The governor, who was speaking at the thanksgiving celebration of Gregory Nwidam, former Council Chairman of Khana Local Government Area, said despite pleas, the government is doing nothing about the UNEP report.
He urged the people of Ogoni not to vote for the PDP to show their disappointment with the non –implemenation of the report.
