Awka - The Anambra government has ordered the closure of offices on January 10 by 12 noon to enable civil servants partake adequately in the local council elections fixed for January 11
The Head of Service, Chidi Ezeoke, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Awka on Thursday.
Ezeoke said the directive was aimed at enabling civil servants to travel to their respective communities where they registered as voters.
According to him, the order is also aimed at ensuring that civil servants exercised their civic duty in the council polls.
The State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) had earlier announced restriction order between 12 midnight on January 10 and 4 p.m. on January 11
NAN reports that local council elections were last conducted in the state in 1999.
