Benue LG polls: PDP wins 15 chairmanship seats

26 November 2012, 07:40 -

Makurdi - The Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC) has released the results of Saturday’s council elections, with the PDP winning all the chairmanship seats in the 15 local government areas so far declared.

The party also won all the councillorship seats in the 15 local government councils.

Prof. Philip Ahire, the Chief Returning Officer of BSIEC, who announced the results in Makurdi on Sunday, said that the results of the remaining eight local government areas were still being collated.

He listed the local government areas, whose election results were released as Ohimili, Otukpo, Ushongo, Tarka, Buruku, Logo, Ado, Gwer West, Gwer East, Agatu, Konshisha, Obi, Oju,  Katsina Ala  and Okpoku

Ahire said that the remaining results would be announced as soon as the collation was completed.

He, however, announced the cancellation of the election results for three wards in Konshisha and Ohimili local government councils.

Ahire said that by-elections would be conducted in the wards at a later date.
