Benue election tribunal adjourns for lawyers to assemble witnesses

Makurdi - The Benue House of Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal has adjourned till July 29 to enable parties assemble their witnesses for trial.

The Chairman of the tribunal, Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu, gave the adjourned date at the resumed sitting of the panel on Tuesday in Makurdi.

It is reported that three petitions from the results of the State House of Assembly elections were heard and adjourned at the sitting.

The cases included that of the former Majority Leader in the 7th Benue Assembly, Mr Paul Biam of the PDP, who is challenging his ouster by Daniel Abaagu of the APC.

Mr Joshua Ogbole of the PDP is also challenging the return of Mr John Adam of the APC for Adoka/Ogboju State Constituency.

Mr Nelson Alapa of the APC, on his part, is challenging the return of Mr Ezekiel Adaji of the PDP for the Otukpo/ Apa State Constituency.

The petitioners are all alleging manipulation in the electoral process and praying the tribunal to upturn the results as announced by INEC.
