Awka - The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Rt. Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor, on Monday cautioned politicians to desist from election violence and malpractices or face the wrath of God.
Ezeokafor spoke on the backdrop of the forthcoming local government and governorship elections scheduled to hold in Anambra.
The cleric, who made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria ((NAN), called on the people of the state to pray for the smooth conduct of the polls.
He stressed the need for politicians to abide by the rules to ensure that the elections were hitch-free.
According to him, the elections should not be business as usual where politicians snatched ballot boxes and rig the polls against the wishes of the electorate.
Ezeokafor urged the youth to reject any offer from politicians who try to use them as thugs for their selfish ambitions.
NAN reports that the local council and governorship elections are scheduled to hold on Oct. 5 and Nov. 16, respectively.
