Maiduguri - The Borno Central Senatorial bye-election will hold on Saturday in the eight local governments constituting the senatorial district, reports The Guardian.
The Senate seat became vacant, following the death of Senator Ahmed Zannah Khalifa, who won a second term, but died shortly before the inauguration of the 8th National Assembly.
The election would mostly be held in Internally-Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps within Maiduguri, as six of the local councils are still under security risk.
The six local councils are Konduga, Bama, Mafa, Dikwa, Ngala, and Kala Balge
Samuel Madaki, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, said everything needed to conduct a free and fair bye-election was ready.
He said all the sensitive and non-sensitive materials had already been received, adding that the distribution of such materials had commenced.
