Buhari, Saraki finally meet

02 October 2015, 12:11

Abuja - The occasion of Nigeria’s 55th Independence Anniversary finally provided an opportunity for the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja, reports New Telegraph.

Thursday’s meeting between the duo is coming three months after Saraki’s controversial election as Senate President.

Buhari had in the past tactically avoided Saraki, who defied the All Progressives Congress (APC), which was rooting for Senator Ahmad Lawan, to emerge the Senate President.

Although, the duo had met twice since the controversial election for the Senate presidency, Thursday’s meeting was the first time Buhari and Saraki would be meeting inside Aso Rock.

Thursday’s meeting would also be the first since Saraki’s trial by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) for alleged false declaration of assets commenced.

At Thursday’s ceremony, Buhari and Saraki who sat near each other, exchanged banters.

There had been reports in the media suggesting that Buhari has frustrated all efforts by Saraki to visit him in Aso Rock.
