Jos - The Clerk of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Simon Gongu, on Tuesday suspended the election of Speaker for the legislature due to a tie in the votes cast.
The candidate of All Progressives Congress, Peter Azi, scored 12 votes, while Istifanus Mwansat of People's Democratic Party also got 12 votes.
In suspending the election, Gongu said: "the governor says the exercise should be suspended because of security concerns."

The Plateau legislature has 24 members made up of 13 PDP members and 11 APC members.
Azi represents Jos North West constituency while Mwansat represents Pankshin West constituency in the 8th assembly of the state.
