Court affirms Gov. Okezie election

Owerri - The Court of Appeal sitting in Owerri, the Imo State capital on Monday affirmed the victory of Governor Ikezie Ikpeazu of Abia State in the April 11 governorship election, reports The News.

The court in its ruling struck out the appeal filed by the Abia State governorship candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Alex Otti.

Otti had approached the court to challenge the decision of the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Umuahia which refused him extension of time to present more witnesses.

The five-man panel, headed by Justice Jimmy Bada, dismissed all the issues raised in the appeal against the appellant. 

The panel described the attitude of Otti’s team of lawyers in handling of the tribunal proceedings as tardy and unserious.
