Court reinstates Action Alliance exco

18 August 2015, 16:07

Abuja - A Federal High Court in Abuja has nullified the removal of the Kenneth Udeze-led Action Alliance (AA) party’s national executive officers.

Justice Adeniyi Ademola in a judgement on Monday also invalidated the appointment of Abdulmalik Abdulrahman as national secretary of the party.

The AA had in the build-up to the general election, removed Udeze as national secretary of the party, Mohammed Abubakar as deputy national chairman and Michael Madu as national youth leader.

Others removed are: Chukwuemeka Okoli as national publicity secretary while Stella Okoli was removed as national women leader.

Taiwo Otegbeye and Tunde Anifowoshe-Kelani were named as the national leader and national chairman respectively.

But Justice Ademola held that the action of the party was a violation of the party’s constitution, the Electoral Act, 2010, Code of Conduct for Political Parties, 2013 and the Guidelines and Regulations for Political Parties 2013.

The judge also granted the prayer of the applicants for an order directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to recognize Abdulrahman as the acting national secretary of the party.
