Court rejects motion to sack Tambuwal as Speaker

Abuja - The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday failed in its bid to sack the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, reports Leadership.

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja refused an ex-parte motion filed by the party’s member, Abiodun Akinlade, seeking to restrain Tambuwal from further acting as Speaker of the Lower House of the National Assembly.

Akinlade, a member of the House or Representatives, representing Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency of Ogun State,had approached he court to stop Tambuwal from parading himself as the Speaker, pending the determination of his suit challenging the propriety of his continued stay in office.

In his ruling, Justice Ahmed Mohammed refused Akinlade’s prayers on the ground that it was unfair to the defendants in the case for the court to make ex-parte orders against them when they were already aware of the case and were represented in court by lawyers.
