Crisis hits Oyo PDP as Akala, Agboola engage in open fight

13 October 2014, 14:50

Ibadan - Former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala and the Deputy-Senate Whip, Hosea Ayoola Agboola nearly engaged each other in an open fight during the South-west zonal congress of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibadan, reports Thisday.

Akala who was protesting the process leading to the congress angrily collected the ballot paper given to Agboola and tore it.

If not for the timely intervention of other party stalwarts at the venue of the congress, the brawl would have degenerated into a fight as Agboola who was caught unawares by the action of the erstwhile governor nearly retaliated.

Akala had accused Agboola and some other delegates from Oyo State of trying to play games with him by substituting his candidate for  the office of the youth leader of the party with another name.
