Delta throws weight behind Jonathan second term bid

16 October 2014, 10:03

Delta - Delta State Governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan, has  reaffirmed the state's commitment to re-elect President Goodluck Jonathan for a second term in 2015.

Uduaghan made the declaration in Asaba when the National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Adamu Muazu, commissioned an ultra-modern party Secretariat.

Uduaghan assured the PDP leader Delta was strongly behind President Jonathan's administration and was in full support of the National Executive Council's (NEC's) decision to adopt him as the party's sole candidate.

“Delta is behind you, we are solidly behind you. We will not get tired in supporting you as you support Mr President as agreed by the NEC that we have only one presidential candidate. We will not be tired in supporting the candidate,” he said.

Uduaghan told Umuazu PDP was strong in the Delta State.

“We believe the strength of the PDP at the national level depends on the states and we in Delta State are committed to strengthening the PDP.”

Muazu commended the governor for building a strong party in the state, assuring the people that with PDP remaining in power, their future was secure.

He said the magnificent secretariat was an evident demonstration and commitment of the government and people of Delta State towards the success of the PDP.

“PDP is the only political party that can enhance your today and secure your future," Muazu said.

"I congratulate Governor Uduaghan, Chairman, Nwaoboshi and all those who contributed to the building of this secretariat, it is a sign of your love and commitment to the PDP. We know that Delta is PDP and PDP is Delta, the two are inseparable."
