Deputy governorship candidate dissociates self from petition

15 August 2012, 09:45

Edo - The PDP Deputy Governorship Candidate in the  Edo governorship election, Mr Johnson Abolagba, has dissociated himself from the petition filed by the governorship candidate, Gen. Charles Airhiavbere.

In a statement  in Benin on Tuesday, Abolagba disclaimed the report that he was a part of an Edo North PDP leaders’ meeting held on Aug. 12, at Afuze, which officially endorsed the petition.

``My loyalty to the PDP has never been in doubt and I am convinced as a party man that the position of my party is superior to my individual ambition.

``I wish to insist that my decision to accept the result of the election is in strict obedience to the wish of my dear party.

``This decision is as difficult for me as I am sure, it is for all who honestly strive at
the election to enthrone a PDP government in Edo.’’

Airhiavbere, in Benin on Tuesday ,filed a petition at the Election Petitions Tribunal, challenging the re-election of Gov. Adams Oshiomhole of ACN in the July 14 election.
