Diaspora APC hails appointment of service chiefs

15 July 2015, 09:48Okoro Chinedu

Lagos - Supporters of the Muhammadu Buhari administration, based in the Diaspora, have welcomed the appointment of new service chiefs and security adviser.

Buhari on Monday announced the appointment of new personnel to the positions.

The All Progressive Congress (APC) International Secretariat in the United States welcomed the appointments as “timely.”

“The firing and appointment of service Chiefs by President Buhari has not come as a surprise,” said Francis John, Coordinator of the APC USA International Secretariat.

“For some time now, news from the grapevines and rumors indicated that the outgoing Services Chiefs and national security adviser were going to be fired. The general feeling by many who have expressed their opinion publicly in the media is that the outgoing service chiefs have performed below the expectations.”

His sentiments came on the back of appointments of Abayomi Gabriel Olonishakin (Chief of Defence Staff), TY Buratai (Chief of Army Staff), Ibok-EteEkweIbas (Chief of Naval Staff), Babagana Monguno (National Security), Monday Riku Morgan (Chief of Defence
Intelligence) and Sadique Abubakar (Chief of Air Staff).

The officials hail from Ekiti, Borno, Cross River, Bauchi, Benue and Borno States respectively.

Isa Odidi, Director (General Diaspora Campaign) of the Buhari Support Group Centre said the President in appointing the new Service Chiefs and National Security Adviser had not only taken into consideration Nigeria's diversity, geopolitical spread and ethnicity.

“More importantly, President Buhari has appointed some of the finest officers the Nigerian Military has produced. The new service chiefs and national security adviser are officers who have consistently demonstrated impeccable intelligence, integrity, and professionalism throughout their military career,” he is quoted as saying from Dubai in a statement made available to CAJ News.

John said APC USA International Secretariat would like to congratulate and welcome the new service chiefs and national security adviser.

He appealed to them to be apolitical at all times, run the military with professionalism and look after the welfare of all rank and file in the military.

“APC USA International Secretariat salute President Buhari for these appointments and call on all Nigerians to support the new service chiefs and national security adviser,” John added.
