Dickson declares for second term on September 8

26 August 2015, 15:06

Yenagoa - Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State will declare his intention to run for a second term in office on Tuesday, September 8, reports The Sun.

He will be seeking re-election under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)

Dickson said he decided to declare after consulting widely with critical stakeholders and due to several pressures from youths, opinion leaders and various grassroots groups.

The event, which is slated for the Samson Siasia Sports Complex, would be attended by his supporters within and outside the state.

The event earlier scheduled for August 28 was moved to September to ensure that Dickson does not violate the Electoral Act based on the Bayelsa State governorship time-table released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

INEC has directed that campaigns by political parties contesting in the December 5 governorship election should commence on September 6 and end on Decembers 3.
