Dogara concedes House Leader to Gbajabiamila's group

08 July 2015, 11:09

Abuja - There are indications that the crisis rocking the National Assembly over leadership positions may soon be resolved following the decision of members of the House of Representatives loyal to Speaker Yakubu Dogara to concede the position of House Leader to the group loyal to Femi Gbajabiamila, reports Premium Times.

The concession follows a meeting between Dogara and some members of the House with the immediate past Speaker and current governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal in Abuja.

The meeting, which was held on Tuesday, agreed that the Gbajabiamila group should nominate a candidate for the position.

The Dogara loyalists, however, insisted that the candidate should be from any zone other than the North East and South West Zones that had already produced the Speaker and Deputy Speaker respectively.

The National Assembly has been enmeshed in crises following the emergence of Bukola Saraki as the Senate President and Yakubu. Dogara as Speaker of the House against the wish of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
