04 November 2015, 16:02

Abuja - In what looks like a fence mending move, the Speaker of the House of Representative, Yakubu Dogara on Tuesday met the chairmen and deputies of House standing committees, reports New Telegraph.

The House was thrown into another round of crisis when the Speaker announced the composition of 96 committees on October 22.

The composition of the committees was rejected by some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC),who were not happy that the Peoples Democratic Party got most of what they described as the grade ‘A’ committees.

Tuesday’s meeting, which was at the instance of Dogara was meant to appeal to those that were planning to resign their positions to drop the action.

The meeting, which began at about 2.30pm at 0.28 conference hall in the new building of the House wing lasted for about two hours.

Dogara told the chairmen and their deputies that committee appointment is for service and not pecuniary considerations.
