Ebonyi APC harmonise positions for ward congresses

03 April 2014, 13:04

Abakaliki - The All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ebonyi plans to zone and harmonise the available positions in Saturday’s ward congress across the state.

The Interim Secretary of the party in the state, Chaka Nweze in Abakaliki on Wednesday that the zoning and harmonisation would ensure the active involvement of all party stakeholders and prevent violence that might arise from the congress.

“The arrangements will be effected at the community, constituency, local government, zonal and even state levels.

“However, in an event where the zoning and harmonisation formula does not work, we will conduct full congress where the officials will be elected," he said.

He noted that aspirants into the positions were not yet known as the forms were not available.

“The forms will be available on Thursday for the aspirants to the 22 positions in each of the 171 wards.

“Four positions for ex-officio members will also be contested as efforts will be made to check internal wrangling and other forms of conflicts that might arise from the congress.

“Party affair is like a family business as all contending issues will be resolved amicably no matter the extent,” he said.

Nweze said the party would ensure that it conducted a transparent congress to justify the confidence reposed in it by the people.
