Ekiti 2014: SDP poised to win

Ado-Ekiti - Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Ekiti State Chapter, Ayo Adekola on Tuesday said the party was ready for the governorship election in the state.

Adekola, who made the declaration in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ado-Ekiti, said the party would do everything lawful to win the governorship election slated for this year.

He said a credible candidate would be picked for the election to effect positive change in the State and create a conducive environment for businessmen and artisans.

The chairman said there was no candidate that had been promised the ticket in the party but any interested candidate could obtain form between now and February.

According to him, the party is for equity and fairness, in which the candidate will be picked from the most acceptable front in the State.

He added that the party had made sure to seek to direct funding of the local government allocation from the federation account.

He said within five months of the party in Ekiti State, it had been able to achieve certain goals, such as 21 personnel ward structure in each of the 177 wards, 21 executive members in each of the local government secretariat and 23 executive personnel in the State.

Ayo assured the people of the state that the party would provide gainful employment through relevant practical training and financial empowerment of a minimum of 5 000 youth per annum.

He, however, urged the people to vote for his party, saying the suffering of the poor masses was paramount to the party.
