Embattled Plateau PDP chairman resigns

Jos - The suspended chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State, Dr. Haruna Dabin, on Tuesday resigned his position, Premium Times.

Addressing journalists at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre in Jos, Dabin said his decision to resign was for peace and harmony to reign among party members.

He denied embezzling the party’ funds, saying  he ran a transparent administration.

He signified his desire to contest election into the office of governor of the state in 2015.

The ex-party chairman and the state governor, Jonah Jang had been at loggerheads over the formers perceived governorship ambition, which prompted the party to pass a vote of no confidence on him.

The governor had insisted that he must resign if he wanted to contest for the position of governor.
