Fear grips APC election committee

Abuja - Members of the committee that will conduct the governorship primaries of the All Progress Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State have expressed their fears and concerns over the security situation of the state, reports Premium Times.

The committee, which is chaired by Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State, raised the concerns during the inauguration of the committee on Wednesday in Abuja.

Chinedu Eluemunoh, one of the committee members, who spoke on behalf of other members, said they are worried about the volatile environment where the primary election will take place.

He urged the leadership of the party to provide adequate security during the exercise.

Responding to the security concerns, the national organising secretary of the party, Osita Izunaso assured that the Bayelsa Police command and the state security service will be on hand to ensure the safety of lives and properties during and after the primaries.

The primary, billed to take place at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa, was initially scheduled for September 19 but was postponed till September 22.
