Political observers in the state, however believed Alabi rejected the appointment because it belittled his status as a former chairman of PDP in the state.
Alabi, a one-time chairman of Ifedore local government council, was the chairman of the party in the state until the uproar that greeted the defection of Mimiko from Labour Party (LP) to PDP.
Alabi handed over the leadership of the party to a close associate of the governor, Clement Faboyede,in 2014.
