05 October 2015, 17:11

Yenagoa - With the dust over the governorship primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Bayelsa State yet to settle, a fresh crisis has hit the state chapter of the party, reports Newmail.

This time, it is over who should be nominated as the deputy governorship candidate of the party in the December 5 governorship election.

Former governor of the state, Timipreye Sylva emerged candidate of the party on Wednesday in a rescheduled primary election.

The leadership of the party in the state is currently split over who should be nominated as Sylva's running mate.

The difficulty arose from the fact that Sylva had prior to the primary, made promises to many leaders of the party for the same position.

The move was to get their support to clinch the gubernatorial ticket during the primary election.

The crisis has become so worrisome that if care was not taken, it could lead to breakaway ahead of the governorship election.
