Fresh crisis looms in PDP over choice of principal officers

Abuja - Crisis is looming in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over who should occupy some positions in the National Assembly among its senators, reports Thisday.

The looming crisis follows plans by powerful forces within the party to install their cronies as principal officers of the party in both chambers.

The party’s decision to zone the positions to the geo- political zones has already pitched power members of  the party against each other.

Former President Goodluck jonathan and his wife, Patience are facing stiff opposition from he Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, as well as the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike

The family of the former President was said to be rooting for Senator George Sekibo as the Minority Leader while both Ekweremadu and Wike were against such a choice.

The immediate-past Governor of Akwa-Ibom State, who is now a senator, Godswill Akpabio,is also said to have shown interest in the same position.
