Ekiti - The Ekiti Government on Tuesday pledged to protect NYSC members that might be deployed as electoral officers during the June 21 governorship election in the state.
Governor Kayode Fayemi made the declaration at the closing ceremony of the 2014 Batch 'A' orientation course for corps members at Ise, Ise-Orun Local Government Area of the state.
Fayemi also warned corps members against allowing themselves to be used to commit acts of violence and electoral fraud.
Earlier, the Director-General of NYSC, Brig.-Gen Johnson Olawumi, had warned politicians as well as their supporters against molesting corps members during the election.
"I am appealing to politicians to talk to their supporters and to warn them against molesting corps members.
"We do not want any of the corps members molested during the June 21 governorship election in the state," he said.
The NYSC boss, however, cautioned corps members against financial inducement, saying they must always protect the integrity of the scheme at all times.
