Guber poll: Fayemi tasks candidates

24 March 2014, 21:39

Ekiti - Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State has urged  candidates contesting in the governorship election  in the state to exhibit decorum and orderly conduct during campaigns.

Fayemi made the call on Sunday in a broadcast on the state-owned broadcasting outfit.

The governor also appealed to all the candidates and  political parties not to promote violence in the state.

"It is my wish that all candidates and their parties will let Ekiti State become Nigeria's model of a political market place of ideas where the buyers and sellers meet unmolested,’’ he said.

He further called on residents  to be vigilant and security conscious while shunning any act capable of  promoting violence.

The governor, who later addressed a  crowd at  his Isan-Ekiti community, said the election was not a do-or-die affair.

He, however, solicited their support in his re-election bid in the poll  which the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had fixed for June 21.

Fayemi said the APC needed to win again to enable him continue with the transformation agenda for the state.
