Abuja - The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has formally filed an appeal against the judgment of the Rivers State Governorship Election Tribunal nullifying the election of Governor Nyesom Wike, reports Vanguard.
The appeal was filed at the Court of Appeal, Abuja Judicial Division on Thursday.
In a 12-ground appeal filed on behalf of the INEC by her counsel, Dr Onyechi Ikpeazu, the Electoral body challenged the entirety of the tribunal’s judgment.

In its notice of appeal dated November 4, INEC insisted that the governorship election that produced Wike as governor was conducted in total compliance to the Electoral Act, as amended.
INEC maintained that the panel erred in law when it failed to evaluate the evidence of each of the witnesses that were called before it by the petitioners before reaching its final decision to nullify the outcome of the governorship election.
