Ijaw leaders blast Tambuwal over Bayelsa governorship election

05 November 2015, 13:10

Yenagoa - Ijaw leaders on Wednesday berated Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal for promising to deliver Bayelsa State to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the December 5 governorship election in the state, reports Sun.

Tambuwal had made the promise at the inauguration of the campaign council of the APC candidate in the election, Timipre Sylva in Abuja.

The leaders under the aegis of the Ijaw Leaders Forum (IJL) said the comment suggested a plot to rig the APC into power by hook or crook.

The group in statement by the Publicity Secretary of the body, Prof. Friday Brisbie-Williams, warned that any attempt to rig the December 5 governorship election will be resisted by the people.

The group recalled the role Tambuwal reportedly played by working against ex-President Goodluck Jonathan as the Speaker of the House of Representatives, saying by such action, he is an enemy of the Ijaw nation.
