Dutse - Jigawa Police Command on Sunday said the January 18 local government elections in the state, were conducted peacefully.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abdu Jinjiri, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that there were no reports of ugly incidents throughout the period of the election.
“So far, so good. There was no adverse report from any part of the state. We are pleased that the polls were conducted peacefully.
“No single arrest was made. We are very pleased over such a positive development,” he said.
The spokesman stated that considering incidents recorded during council polls in other states, the exercise in Jigawa, was exceptional.
He then commended the people of the state for their peaceful conduct and urged them to maintain the peace.
