Jonathan urges PDP to stop Wada

14 September 2015, 17:10

Lokoja - Former President Goodluck Jonathan has directed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leadership to make sure Governor Idris Wada of Kogi State does not win the governorship primary of the party, reports Thisday.

The gubernatorial primary of the party is scheduled to hold on Monday after it was postponed on Thursday.

Jonathan had earlier told Gov. Wada not to expect his support for his second term bid.

Even though the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, had attributed the postponement to  logistics issues, it was gathered that the postponement was at the instance of Jonathan to enable the party’s leaders decide on the alternative candidate to Wada.

Jonathan and his supporters within the PDP’s organs are blaming Wada for the party’s poor outing in the state during the March 28 presidential election.

They accused him of supporting President Muhammadu Buhari in the election because he is a Muslim.
