Kaduna gets new PDP chairman

Kaduna - The Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna has appointed, Mr Abubakar Haruna, as the new Chairman of the party in the state.

Haruna, 56, was until his appointment, the state Commissioner for Chieftaincy Affairs and succeeded Amb. Nuhu Bajoga, who is now, the Deputy Governor of the state.

The new chairman, who was appointed commissioner in 2010 by late Gov Patrick Yakowa, was born on June 15, 1955.

He attended LEA Primary School, Goran Kachia, between 1967-1973, Government College, Katsina, 1973-1978, where he obtained his West African School Certificate.

He obtained a certificate in accounting from Staff Training Centre, Funtua.

Haruna had Executive Grade Certificate, Diploma in Public Accounting and Audit and Advance Diploma in Public Administration from Kaduna Polytechnic.

He started his civil service career in 1978 with Kaduna State College of Education, Gidan Waya, as Clerical Officer rising through the ranks to become Accountant I in 1993.

In 1997, he joined mainstream politics and contested and won the chairmanship of Kachia Local Government under the United Nigeria Congress Party (UNCP).

He had served as a former Special Assistant on Project Monitoring and Evaluation to Governors Ahmed Makarfi and Namadi Sambo.
