Abuja - Kano State Government has officially anointed Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as the 14th Emir of Kano.
The event took place at Africa Hall of the Kano Government House despite the furore surrounding his announcement as the leader
Speaking at the Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso , said the appointment of an emir was not a political issue as suggested in some sections.
"It is unfortunate that some enemies of Kano State attempted to politicize this process," he said.
He added that Sanusi "was not only on the recommended list of the kingmakers but was on top of the list."
The Governor handed over the letter of appointment.
The appointment of Sanusi, the former Central Bank of Nigeria governor, was met with violence in some parts of the state.
Emir is a title of high office used in a variety of places in the Muslim world.
