Lokoja -Kogi Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi,has
said that the State Government has started a programme of renovating
tourism sites in the state as part of a long term investment in tourism
development to make the state a tourist destination.
Awoniyi,gave the indication when he met with officials of Jumeirah, a
United Arab Emirate Investor and their Nigerian Partners,Quality Trend
Company in his office in Lokoja on Thursday.
He stated that the state tourist sites were made up of historical and
colonial monuments,noting that they were currently under going rehabilitation and upgrading to prepare them for tourism exposure.
Awoniyi,disclosed that the sincerity of purpose by which the present administration conducts government businesses, has made it possible for the state to attract investors and facilitated the signing of about eleven memoranda of understanding.
He called on investors to take the advantage of the friendly business
environment in the state for investment,noting that the state was a
good place for investment.
Earlier In his remarks, Daniel Weihrauch,Director of Sales and
Marketing,Jumeirah of UAE stated that their objectives in Nigeria was
to build bridges of partnership for development.
He said that they want partnership between government's at all levels
in Nigeria especially in the areas of Tourism and Infrastructural
Weihrauch, said their visit was to seek ways to bring a robust
working investment relationship that would assist in the exploration of
the rich tourism potentialities of the state and to boost
infrastructural development vision of the Wada administration.
