Kwara - Rasaq Atunwa, the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly on Thursday swore-in the newly elected member representing Ilorin North Constituency, AbdulFatai Bakanni.
The new member was re-elected on the platform of the PDP.
The swearing-in was done after the re-elected member had received his certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ilorin.
After the swearing-in, Bakanni spoke to newsmen expressing gratitude to God for his victory.
``The victory was a testimony of the confidence the electorate have in me and I promise to fulfil my pledge to them by improving on their well-being."
In another development, Issa Bawa, the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, said the ministry would open a register for all local government employees in the state.
Bawa said this on the floor of the assembly on Thursday while speaking on the activities of the ministry.
He said the measure was to curb truancy, lateness, absenteeism and other misdemeanours inimical to the progress of the state.
The commissioner identified the review of salaries of traditional rulers in Kwara and charging out of biometric data as major achievements of the ministry since he assumed office.
Bawa told the lawmakers that dearth of vehicles, negative attitude of some councils and inadequate monthly allocations among others were major problems facing his ministry. (NAN)
