Abuja - The outgoing National Chairman of the Labour Party, Dan Nwanyanwu, has begged Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo not to dump the party for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), reports Punch.
He urged him to stay put in the party and help build it since he is the only governor the party has.
Nwanyanwu, who is stepping down after 11 years in the saddle, said Mimiko’s planned defection will be a major blow to the party.
He said Mimiko’s defection will spell doom for the party in the country.
Nwanyanwu’s plea may have been the reason why Mimiko on Wednesday denied leaving the party for the PDP.
The governor during the National Executive meeting of the party in Abuja described his reported plan to defect to the PDP as a rumour.
