Legislators deadlocked over Buhari's ministerial list

30 September 2015, 18:52

Abuja - Senators from the People's Democratic Party have expressed concern at the reported failure by President Muhammadu Buhari to submit the list of ministerial nominees to the upper chamber of the National Assembly.

Minority leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio, explained that the President had promised Nigerians he would release the list of ministerial nominees before the end of September.

However, the Senate Deputy majority leader, Senator Bala Ibn Na'Allah, in a quick reaction, pointed out the month had not ended.

"President Muhammadu Buhari has not failed in his promise to Nigeria," said Na'Allah.

Akapbio nonetheless insisted.

"The President promised the Nigerians that the list of ministerial nominees would be before the Senate before ending of September and various newspapers publications show that the list has been submitted. So it is right for us to know if the Senate President is sitting on the list," he said.

It could not be ascertained at the time of going to press if Buhari would submit his list.
