Abuja - National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in Ekiti State have been commended for the success of the recent governorship election in the state.
A statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja by the NYSC Director of Press and Public Affairs, Abosede Aderibigbe, quoted the corps Director-General, Brig.-Gen. Johnson Olawumi, and INEC Chairman Prof. Attahiru Jega, as making the commendation.
It said that Olawumi and Jega had described the election as credible, free and fair, and lauded the corps members for conducting themselves in a dignified manner.
The statement extolled the exemplary behaviour of the corps members by shunning politicians with all forms of inducement in the course of conducting the election.
According to the statement, Olawumi and Jega praised the maturity of the corps members during the exercise.
It said that Olawumi advised corps members nationwide to always imbibe the values of humility and service while serving their fatherland.
It quoted the Director-General as assuring corps members of their security anywhere elections were held.
The statement reminded Nigerians that corps members were expected to serve with zeal and diligence for the development of the nation.
