Nasarawa lawmakers plot fresh move to impeach Al-Makura

14 October 2014, 15:02

Lafia -  The political crisis in Nasarawa State may not be over as members of the  State House of Assembly are planning fresh impeachment proceedings against Governor Umaru Al-Makura over allegations of misuse of funds, reports Daily Trust.

The fresh plot is being arranged by 20 out of the 24 members of the assembly in connivance with some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stalwarts in the state.

The lawmakers are planning to use the audit report presented to the House by Auditor General of the state, Rayyanu Lamus to raise fresh charges against the governor.

In the report, it was discovered that over N20 billion have been expended without accounts to the funds.

Part of the plans of the lawmakers is to accused the governor of misappropriating the N20billion.

The governor in July survived a previous impeachment bid when a probe panel set up by the Chief Judge cleared him of accusations labeled by the House because lawmakers failed to provide proof.
