Abeokuta - Former president Olusegun Obasanjo has warned political parties against contemplating a Muslim-Muslim or Christian-Christian ticket for any election.
He said such move will spell doom for the country given the current happenings in the polity, reports Punch.
Obasanjo in a statement on Sunday said religion was a very sensitive issue in Nigeria and such political arrangement would inflame religious sentiments.
He said it will be insensitive for any leader or any political party to be toying with Muslim-Muslim or Christian-Christian ticket at this point of Nigeria’ history.
Obasanjo was apparently reacting to comments credited to one of the All Progressive Congress presidential aspirants, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari’s that he was not opposed to a Muslim-Muslim ticket.
