Ogun - Former president Olusegun Obasanjo on Sunday in Abeokuta stressed the importance of national population census in nation building.
Obasanjo stated this at his residence when Mrs Oluseyi Olusanya, Federal Commissioner, National Population Commission (NPC), paid him a courtesy visit.
The elder statesman noted the importance of census to the development of any nation as it aids national planning.
He urged management of the NPC to make sure that the 2016 National Population Census ``is credible and acceptable to all’’.
Olusanya had earlier given the assurance that the next census would be successful and acceptable to all.
She promised to be a good ambassador of Ogun, and expressed optimism that the 2016 census would be an improvement on previous exercises.
Olusanya, a veteran broadcaster who retired from Nigeria Television Authority, said she paid the visit to tap from the former president’s wealth of wisdom.
She expressed the confidence and determination to discharge her duties without fear or favour.
