Awka - The former Governor of Anambra, Peter Obi, On Tuesday formally defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), reports The Guardian.

Obi announced his decision to join the PDP after a visit to his residence by leaders of the PDP in the South-East zone.
He pledged to work towards the reelection of President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015.
Key national officers of PDP led by the National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, Chairman of PDP, Governors Forum, Godswill Akpabio, Secretary to the Federal Government of Nigeria, Anyim Pius Anyim, Governor of Abia State, Theodore Orji, Senator Ben Ndi Obi witnessed Obi's declaration for the PDP.
